momentary, maybe it will disappear in a day’s time, and that is
because it was gyan-yoga. You acquired the knowledge, something
motivated you to do something, but you did not act on it. The
‘Karma’(action) never happened. The motivation will become more
permanent when you will convert knowledge into action. Right
actions or Karma Yoga can give you more positive results.
I will explain this further with an example.
Once there were two brothers. Both of them were looking for a job.
One day, their friend who had his own hotel and was a businessman,
paid them a visit. He suggested the two brothers to start a small
business. He recommended them to set up a pav bhaji stall. He
provided them with all sort of knowledge regarding managing a
business, and told them that this way they can earn more money
than salaried professional. Both the brothers were inspired by what
he said. They bid him adieu with gratitude. Both the brothers had
acquired a knowledge which they had not received from anywhere,
ever in their lives, because they had never thought about doing a
business. Mentally they had restricted themselves to a paid job, but
after the friend’s visit, both of them started having second thoughts.
Every day the elder brother would sit under a tree and keep thinking
about setting up a shop. He would worry about what kind of life he
would have in future.
A few days later he would start thinking, ‘What if the business does
not run properly?’
‘Will people visit my shop?’
‘Will I be able to cook the dishes properly or not?’
‘I hope I do not end up losing money.’
‘Finding a job is a better option, so what if it takes a few more days?’
All these thoughts started to have a very heavy effect on him, and he
could not muster the courage to set up the business. His life had no
