174 making instruction work
Example #3: Prepare Implementation Instructions.
Here is the same module as in Example #2, but written in a
form to be handed to students who are working through a
criterion-referenced, self-paced course in which they are learn-
ing to develop modules for similarly conducted courses. In
these courses students work at their own pace until they can
demonstrate achievement of an objective, and then they move
on to the next module.
As you read through the module, see if you can identify the
following components (remembering that the skill check itself
is not part of the body of the module):
•Objective
• Criterion test description
• Description of relevance
• “Prepare to practice” content
•Practice
• Source of feedback for the practice
• Directions to the student
• Job aid to guide performance
