B. Introduction
Writing is a process, and the first draft is just the
beginning. The real power of effective writing comes during
the stages of revision and editing. While many students may
think these two terms are interchangeable, they serve distinct
purposes. Revision is about rethinking the content and
structure of your essay—looking at the bigger picture and
making substantial changes to improve your argument,
organization, and clarity. Editing, on the other hand, is focused
on polishing the language, correcting grammar, and ensuring
that your writing flows smoothly.
This chapter will guide you through both revision and
editing processes, emphasizing their importance and providing
strategies to make your writing clearer, more organized, and
more effective.
