2. Tone Shifting Exercise
Description: Students are given a paragraph written in a
neutral, academic tone and tasked with rewriting the
same paragraph in different tones (e.g., formal,
conversational, sarcastic, enthusiastic). This exercise will
help students practice adjusting tone to fit different
purposes and audiences.
Objective: To enhance students' ability to recognize and
intentionally control the tone of their writing based on the
context.
Assessment: Graded on the variety and appropriateness
of tones applied, as well as how the content of the
paragraph changes to match the tone.
