SENSES – Children from birth absorb information about their
world through their five senses, from what they see, smell, hear,
touch and taste. Providing opportunities for children to play with
their senses is vital not only in early years but ongoing through
childhood in order to aid brain development. Playing with the
senses develops pathways between neurons. The more of one
type of activity stimulating the senses that a child experiences, the
stronger the pathway becomes.
