5. Clothing

Wonder Woods is an outdoor woodland nursery. We do of
course have shelters although children are supported and
encouraged to play outdoor all day every day.

It is important that your child feels comfortable, warm, dry and unrestricted in
their clothing whilst with us. You know the saying: ‘No such thing as bad weather
just the wrong clothes’ well this is absolutely true for our nursery.

We are absolutely happy to offer advice and support around clothing. We may
even be able to provide some good quality outer layers.

We do ask that your child arrives at the woods with appropriate base layers on
and a full change of clothes. Please do not worry about clothing - we will discuss
this with you throughout the seasons.

Sunscreen should be applied by the parent/carer before the child arrives at the
setting. Thereafter, staff will apply sunscreen to children at key intervals
throughout the day - morning snack time, lunch time, and afternoon snack
time. Our suncream brand is Childs Farm Factor 50.

Smidge will be applied as required when our midge friends come out to play.
You can of course supply your own repellent. https://www.smidgeup.com/

       Footwear
Footwear is equally as important. We advise boots of the type detailed below.
We do have a small stock that we can lend you as we know how quickly
children’s feet grow. If you wish to borrow some, please just ask. Please note that
wellies are not ideal as, despite being waterproof, they do not provide adequate
warmth and support. They can be great as a change or for our visit to rock river.

       Gloves
The key here is many pairs. Children like to feel, play, pick up, throw, rub all sorts
of things. This means hands can get wet and cold. Being able to put on dry

gloves when required is really important.
This is an example of an appropriate
