Promoting Positive Behaviour
At Wonder Woods, we promote positive behaviour through
fostering an environment of kindness, patience and respect
for ourselves, others and everything around us.
Aims:
• Staff share and maintain good practice, which supports an environment of
safety, positivity and kindness.
• Children feel respected, through caring interactions with adults who act as
positive role models, valuing their individualities.
• Staff encourage and support children in building their vocabulary to effectively
communicate their needs and feelings.
Staff approach positive behaviour management through:
• responding calmly and patiently to any incidents
• taking time to speak with children about their needs
• working with children to find suitable solutions
• maintaining positivity through positive language and communication
methods
• supporting children in recognising the needs of others
Environmental Sustainability:
Taking care of our environment is very important to us. We follow the Scottish
Outdoor Access Code and the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, which promote
safe and responsible use of land. This includes practical and responsible rules
around the lighting and management of fires. In addition, we model correct and
respectful interactions with our environment in accordance with the Scottish
Government’s Out To Play guidelines.
Staff and children work together to explore the
correct and responsible ways in which we:
• Treat wildlife and wildlife habitats
• Dispose of waste
• Interact with protected species
• Manage and consider sustainability
