Troubleshooting
Note:
Iris Power LP software must be installed with a user account that has
administrative access rights on the computer. If the application was
not installed using an account with administrative rights, then IAM will
not function properly.
There are 4 main types of errors that are likely to occur in IAM.
• Database errors
• Communication errors
• Monitor errors
• Application errors
10.1. Database Errors
Database errors typically manifest on opening a database. The main things to check
are:
• Make sure that the file you are trying to open is a .IID file. If it is a .ZIP or .IIA file
then it is an archived database, and it needs to be extracted before opening. Refer
to 2.3.2 for details.
• Make sure the database is not read-only.
• Make sure the database is not open in another application.
10.2. Communication Errors
Communication errors typically manifest in 2 ways:
• Detecting the wrong monitor.
• A failure to connect at all.
If IAM reports that it is connecting to the wrong monitor:
• The monitor that you are physically connected to does not match the one that you
selected in the database. This typically happens when using USB communications
but not Ethernet.
• If this happens with an Ethernet connection, then a more involved troubleshooting
procedure is needed. Especially if the communications used to work, then
something must have changed; it is possible that something was added to the
network on the same IP address, or a monitor was re-configured using a different
copy of the database.
If the communication failure is not a simple fix, the User Manual of the specific monitor
contains detailed instructions to troubleshoot the problem.
