Troubleshooting

whether the hardware has been properly detected or whether the system is configured
properly. For rapid resolution of any Technical Support issue, this should be included on any
                     Technical Support inquiry.

Any basic diagnostic failure will cause the Error indicator on the front panel to be blink
orange; so, if the Error indicator is blinking orange, the basic diagnostics should be the first
                     thing to check.

              7.1.2. Advanced Diagnostics
More detailed diagnostics are available on a USB drive after downloading data from the
monitor as described in Section 6.4.2. These diagnostics include detailed event-based
information over the lifetime of the device such as reboots and measurement status.
If it is convenient, this could be included on any Technical Support inquiry, but typically
would not be necessary for resolving most issues.

              7.2. EV Measurement
If there are no measurements downloaded from the Archive, this may indicate a problem
with the EV card. With the Trigger-based Archiving scheme described in Section 4.6, there
should be at least one set of summary data stored every day.

The most obvious sign of a problem are the measurements saved by the Periodic Triggers,
which can reveal several different problems:

                        • If measurements are being saved with only an Unknown Operating Point, then the
monitor can neither detect the Shaft Trigger signal, nor can it get Operating Condition
                            data from Modbus.
                        • If Periodic measurements are being saved with only a Synchronized Operating Point,
then the monitor can detect a Shaft Trigger, although it cannot get Operating Condition
                            data from Modbus.
                        • If Periodic measurements are not being saved at all, this indicates either a
                            configuration or a hardware issue.
In all these cases, there are a few common steps to check the functionality of the EV Card.
                        • Perform a single-shot measurement.

                        • Check the configuration settings.
                        • Check the EV signals from the EODs.
