Where Did All Of The Gospel Revivals Go?—
Whatever happened to all of the Spirit-filled gospel
revivals… where dozens, to hundreds of lost souls would
come to Christ in a single night? Now, this is what
Kingdom Building is all about. When I first got saved,
revival crusades could be found everywhere.
No respectable holiness or full-gospel church would
go year after year without revivals just as churches are
doing today. The revival wasn’t about entertainment or
“feel-good” church programs. It was about getting lost
souls saved, and saved folks stronger.
In the five-fold ministry, the ministry of the
evangelist is a dying art form. The five-fold ministry is a
term referring to the five ministry roles of the Apostles,
Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers. It’s the
Biblical blueprint we are given to equip people and grow
the Kingdom.
“So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets,
the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his
people for works of service, so that the body of Christ
may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith
and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become
mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness
of Christ.”
Ephesians 4:11-13 (NIV)
Well, it looks like everyone heard the part about
apostles, prophets and pastors, but somehow preachers
seem to have missed the part about evangelists and
teachers. Evangelists, like Scott Bradley (for example) in
Chicago, are few and far between. The role of an evangelist
is very specialized and narrowly focused.
