Did you know that…?
• On October 17th (17/10) each year an International End Poverty Day is
held – this day was declared by the United Nations and is directed at fighting
hunger and poverty.
• Since 1990 extreme poverty the world over has been reduced by half.
• World poverty has been reduced thanks to rapid economic growth in recent
decades by notably poor countries such as India and China – which today are
considered to be mid-income countries.
