another title?
VI. WITHDRAWAL/WEEDING LIBRARY MATERIALS
Materials that are not circulated may be withdrawn or may be
transferred to another government schools or agencies that make use the
materials.
The following factors are important in considering withdrawal of a title:
1. Relevance of the title to College’s institutional and research
programs;
2. Existence of abstracts and indexes to title;
3. Circulation of volumes; and
4. Physical consideration of volumes.
5. Materials which contain the following are retained by the library:
5.1 Research Value. Materials which contain research value are
still valuable and kept in the library collection.
5.2 Out –of-Print. Materials which are out-of print that are being
circulated should be retained.
VII. TYPES AND FORMATS OF MATERIALS COLLECTED
The library acquires print materials (books, periodical, pamphlets,
maps, etc.), audiovisual materials (VCD’S, DVD, etc.) and electronic
resources. It acknowledges the continuous change evolving process of
information technology and is given to new formats that support the mission
and goals of the library and the college. Established literary works and new
works receiving critical acclaim in the literacy field are considered, especially
those works that support literature course offering. Literacy prizewinners are
purchase when funds permit.
Reference Materials support the needs of college students, faculty and
staff. The reference collection includes encyclopedias dictionaries, atlases,
directories, indexes, bibliographies, statistical, compilation, handbooks and
internet resources. The reference collection is reviewed by the library staff
annually to insure currency and accuracy. Reference Materials are collected in
the print, electronic and online formats.
Serials/periodicals/journals/newspapers are publications issued in
successive part bearing numeric or chronological designation and intended to
be continued indefinitely. Serial are issued in print and electronic formats. All
formats will be considered in the library’s procurement subject to availability
of funds.
