Neveh Tzedek – The Little Paris
When (people) wander around in Neve Tzedek, they see advertisements for dance
performances, luxurious shops, people eating sushi, and sometimes Breslevites dancing in
the street. [The] people’s houses seem very well designed – A real luxury neighborhood.
Not always was Neve Tzedak such a neighborhood. 120 years ago Rabbi Aharon Shlush
bought three (pieces of) land near Jaffa, and let new immigrants build their house there.
The new immigrants who lived there were: Artists like Nahum Guttman, Authors like S.Y.
Agnon, Poets like Brenner and Rabbis like Rabi Kook; In short, all the people who don’t
really earn money… These people gave Neve Tzedek it’s cultural air [spirit] and magical
atmosphere, which one can [it is possible to] feel in it, until this day.
