FROM THE ARCHIVIST
Some weeks ago I had a wonderful conversation with
a teacher who taught at BMGS between 1982 and
1984. Mr. Peter Reeves has fond memories of the
then Headmaster, Mr Tommy Cuff and his memory
of students amazed me. He remembered many of
the staff and had enjoyed a recent meeting with past
member of Staff, Mr. Col Burke. I am curious to know
how many Alumni remember Mr. Reeves.
I continue to work through the history and uncover
nuggets of information about different times in
the School’s development and I particularly enjoy
recording any information provided by members
of our Alumni. During Term 4 a volunteer helped
me with wrapping, storing and recording items of
past uniforms and I was surprised by how much we
achieved in a few hours.
Any Alumni memorabilia is important to the Archives
of BMGS, even if you think they are not. So if you
are clearing out your cupboards please remember
BMGS. Please note a date and event is critical for
identification. In August, at a Junior School Assembly, we
welcomed a very special guest: former teacher and
Head of Junior School at Blue Mountains Grammar
Junior School, Mr Johnnie Fuller, after whom our
Junior School’s Library is named.
Mr Fuller was a teacher at BMGS from 1967 to 1985
and again for a year in 1989. From 1968 he taught
Years 5 and 6 at the Junior School when it was in
Lake Street (now Kindle Hill School) and was Head of
the Junior School until his retirement in 1985.
Accompanied by his wife, Lyn, Mr Fuller enjoyed
some fine musical performances at Assembly and a
presentation from our Stage 2 students, espousing
their love of reading. Mr Fuller shares a love of
reading, and we have an award on our Presentation
Day, in honour of Mr Fuller, to acknowledge a student
who has made outstanding progress in reading in
Stage 3.
Having lived in Wentworth Falls for most of his life,
Mr and Mrs Fuller have relocated to Ulladulla and
we wish them all the very best for this new stage
