EARL Y LEARNING F AMIL Y (ELF) CHALLENGE
        EARLY LEARNING FAMILY (ELF) CHALLENGE
In March, in beautiful autumn weather, students in Pre-K to Year 2 together with their parents
enjoyed our second annual Early Learning Family Challenge. The afternoon consisted of a series
of fun challenges, including a highly popular face-painting activity, a three-legged race, balloon
modelling, a memory game and a dance challenge. Many different skills were needed for these
challenges and our youngest students demonstrated effective collaboration and communication
throughout the afternoon. Mr Maynard and Mr Cockington hit the dance floor, displaying some
retro moves and the Year 5 students proved themselves excellent marshals for this event.

Great fun was had by all and it was wonderful to see our whole Early Learning Community
participating with such enthusiasm and enjoying a picnic.

       SOMETHING NEW T O TRY!
       SOMETHING NEW TO TRY!
There was much excitement in the Junior
School when Music Specalist Mrs Allison Lewis
introduced our youngest musicians to our newest
acquisition of musical instruments: twenty four
newly minted - and brightly coloured - ukuleles.
These will be used by children in Stage 2 (Years 3
and 4) at both Junior campuses.
Music forms part of every BMGS Junior
School students’ educational journey, with the
instrumental program starting in earnest in Year
2 with the Strings program (violin/cello), moving
through percussion, band and then orchestral
       instruments.

Music is widely accepted as stimulating all areas
of a child’s development and skills for learning,
       including intellectual, social-emotional, motor,
       language, and overall literacy.
