THE TRANSFER GUIDE
The Transfer Credit Guide search engine will show you courses that have been reviewed for articulation to Kent State
www.kent.edu/transferguide
University and what Kent State course number they will receive. The link for the guide is www.kent.tedu/transferguide.
HOW IT WORKS
The Transfer Credit Guide is a report of every articulation rule in our Kent State transfer articulation system. It is
updated instantly to add new, or amend existing articulations, and is constantly growing. If you do not see an institution
or course, the Credit Transfer Staff can update this database upon an official review of coursework. For schools with
multiple campuses you may need to choose the main campus location to see the courses reviewed. It also shows
attributes for specific GPS requirements that a course may apply to. However, please note that how these courses
apply to the graduation requirements for a major will be determined by the college that manages that degree and
major. There may be circumstances where an equivalent course may not be able to be applied to a degree requirement.
Please consult with an academic advisor for more information on how these courses will apply to a degree.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Why are there courses showing that aren’t offered anymore at XYZ School?
We don’t remove these from the transfer guide. These are courses that could still be transferred in on a student’s transcript from
their scholastic history, and therefore we need to keep track of them in the tables.
I’m trying to register for a course at XYZ school, but I can’t find it. Why?
We can’t track what courses will be offered in the future at another institution. We can only document the courses that have been
offered or transferred to us in the past. Please don’t plan a future transfer course without making sure that the other institution still
offers that course.
What does RVWD mean?
If you see this attribute on a course, that means it has gone through a higher level of review outside of the Credit Transfer Office
initial review. This could include faculty reviews, UAC reviews, Curriculum Services review, State of Ohio transfer guarantees, or other
committees and articulation agreements. If you request to have this course reviewed again, make sure that you provide as much
information as possible including institution website links, their general education requirements, the syllabus, practice tests, and any
other information from class notes.
I don’t see my country/school represented. Does that mean you will not accept my credit?
If your institution does not appear, that simply means we have not yet reviewed courses from your school. As long as your school has
the appropriate accreditation, Kent State University will accept credit from that institution. Visit
http://www.kent.edu/credittransfer/credit-transfer-faqs to review information regarding the accreditations Kent State accepts. The
database will be updated upon an official review of your transcript.
A course is only transferring as electives and does not have a direct equivalent? What should I do?
Students should set up an advising appointment in their college office. They will need to supply the advisor with a syllabus for faculty
review. If the course is approved as an equivalent, an adjustment will be made to the academic record and the transfer credit guide
will be updated.
I don’t see how military credit will transfer?
Kent State University is a Military Friendly school. To view military courses or occupations that we have reviewed so far, you can
select “District of Columbia” in the state drop-down, and then choose “Military Credits” to see what we have reviewed. We are adding
courses and occupations to our tables regularly and will honor all ACE recommendations for military Joint Services Transcripts. To
have military credit applied to an academic record, students should visit https://jst.doded.mil to electronically submit a Joint Services
Transcript (JST) to Kent State’s Admissions office.
I don’t see AP/IB/Alevels credit listed on this database? Where can I find that?
Visit http://www.kent.edu/credittransfer for these crosswalks. CLEP and CBE crosswalks can be found on the testing services site.
