Uses
used as anthelmintic in the treatment of ascaris (round
worms)
Due to its toxicity, it is now replaced by other anthelmintics

Toxicity:
*Santonin affects vision causing "xanthopsia" (whiteobjects look
green, blue or yellow).

*Large doses may give rise to epileptic convulsionsfollowed by
coma, hearing disorders .Death may occur from respiratory
failure

Chromo santonin (photo santonin)
Santonin is affected by air and light, it gave yellowisomeric
form (chromo santonin).
Santonin is regenerated from chromo santonin byethanol.
