1- santonin + sulfuric acid + traces of ferric

chloride → violet colour

2- Santonin + ethanolic solution of KOH or NaOH, warm →
violet-red colour , changed tore

2-Picrotoxin: (Cocculin)
Sources: It is obtained from the seed of Anamirta cocculus
L. (Menispermaceae) . It is highly oxygenated
sesquiterpene lactone.Picrotoxin is a mixture of picrotoxinin
and picrotin (1:1).
