Terpenoid ( isoprenoid) Bitters
They are biosynthesized from isoprene units, that are
biogenetically derived from mevalonate (acetate) pathway.
Theisoprene units are usually linked in a head to tail
manner.
Classification: two isoprene units(C10H16)
1.Monoterpenoid : three isoprene units (C15H24)
2.Sesquiterpenoids: four isoprene units (C20H32)
six isoprene units (C30H48)
3. Diterpenoids: eight isoprene units (C40H64)
