Determination of aldehydes and ketones

• Hydroxylamine Hydrochloride (NH2OH·HCl) is added to the aldehyde
    or ketone sample. They react together giving an oxime product and an
    equivalent amount of HCl.

• The produced HCl can then be titrated with

    standard NaOH using methyl orange as indicator.
