still have large numbers of residual silanols,
which lead to poor or broad peak shapes.
How to solve this problem?
❑ Residual silanol groups on the silica
surface are end-capped with trimethylsilyl
groups by reaction with trimethylchloro-
silane ClSi(CH3)3 to eliminate polar
adsorption sites that cause tailing.
