Sar’s (severe acute respiratory syndrome)
Identified February 2003 during outbreake in China.
It is air born and can spread through small droplets of
saliva,spread indirectly via surfaces.Adults infected 25-70
Years ,few cases among children below 15 years age.
Incubation period 2-7 days .
Symptoms : begins with high fever › 38₀c,headache
discomfort ,body aches ,mild respiratory .
symptoms.10-20% patients ,diarrhea after 2-7 days
patients develop dry cough ,most patients develop
pneumonia.
4 types of Corona virus affect 10-30% of upper respiratory
tract in adults:
Sar’s-Cov,Mer’s -Cov,Sar’s-Cov2,Sar’s Coc 19
Severity: 20% need to be hospitilyzed ,small group of them
(20-30%)need mechanical ventilation .
