Yellow Fever
Acute infectious virus disease occuringin tropical&
subtropical zones.Vaccine injected subcutaneously.
Rabies
An acute infection of mammals caused by rabies
virus.Clinical rabies (hydrophobia ) is fatal to man. It has
long incubation period after introduction of the virus by
the bite of rabid animal.Modern practice combines
passive &active immunization.Majority of vaccines used
today consist of suspensions of virus infected
sheep,rabbit or mouse brain tissue(5%) ,virus inactivated
by phenol,b-propionelactone or ultraviolate
irradiation.Lyophilyzed vaccine is more stable .Bites &
other wounds locally treated
By washing with soap,detergent& water.Bites by wild
vectors need application of antirabies serum (14-21
doses)
Supplement doses given 10 & 20 days after completion
of treatment.Virus strains adapted to growth in chick &
duck
Embryos also virus grow in the brains of very young
animals .
