ϒ- globulin may help to neutralize the viraemia when
administered in the early stages before the virus has
infected the nerve cells. Children who have recently
undergone tonsillectomy are special risk ,A dose of
500mg

Of ϒ- globulin for infants under 1 year ,1g for children 1-
6 Years & 1-5 g for children 7 years & older.Poliomyelitis

Is preventable disease.The killed vaccine is produced by
monkey kidney cell cultures.For immunization 2 doses
given by IM at an interval of 4-6 weeks followed similar
dose given 9-12 months later, A fourth dose 5-6 years
later.

Killed vaccine can be incorporated with
Diphtheria,tetanus,

& pertussis prophylactics quadruple vaccine.

Live vaccine made by infecting monkey kidney or human
embryo lung fibroblast cell cultures but with attenuated
virus strains is safe on large scale .In many countries the
vaccine is given orally as monovalent virus in the order
of Type 1 followed by Type 3 and finally Type 2 with
interval of 6 weeks between each dose.
