             Pros & Cons

                                  Nebulizers are frequently used in
                                  applications where patient’s strong
inhalation is not required for effective
drug delivery (such as in pediatric or
                                  hospitalized patients because they require
                                  minimal patient coordination of breathing)

                                           but are cumbersome
                                           nonportable
                                           and time consuming to use.

     Nebulizers better or not?

the variation in drug delivery in terms of particle size, nebulisation time and drug
output (respirable fraction of the nebuliser) may have an effect on the clinical outcome
AS effective as multiple actuations of a MDI via a spacer in adult asthmatics
The purchase of a compressor should be referred to either the patient's GP or hospital
       consultant for assessment before prescribing.
the design of the nebulizer significantly affects the efficiency of the atomization
       process
Nebulisers do, however, have a place in the acute management of severe asthma.
