              Container form: single-dose

• A single-dose container when opened, it cannot be resealed with
    assurance that sterility has been maintained.

• Single-dose containers may be ampuls or single-dose vials or special
    devices.

• Some single-dose preparations are to be administered in small
    volumes (SVP) or large volume infusions (LVP, preservative-free).

                   Container form: single-dose

     Ampoules
     • Glass ampoules are supplied as open necked

         containers that are sealed by fusion of the
         narrow glass neck after filling.
     • Usually, the neck of the ampoule has a painted
         ceramic ring on it, that acts as a weak point at
         which the ampoule can be easily snapped
         open by hand without breaking the body.
