       2- Adsorption chromatography

     • The stationary phase are silica or alumina particles
     • Analytes are separated due to their varying degree of

        adsorption onto the solid surfaces
     • Used for separation of nonpolar, water- insoluble organic

        compounds
     • The main advantage of adsorption chromatography is in

        separating isomers, e.g. meta- and para- substitutated
        benzene derivatives
