Lesson 9: Rumaala & Chandoa

Guru Granth Sahib Ji sits majestically on a Palki with pillows all around. Guru

Granth Sahib Ji is covered with beautiful cloths. They are called Rumaala.

The Rumaala set has four pieces. The side pieces are called Palkaan. There
are two bigger Rumaalay, one over the top and one at the bottom of Guru

Granth Sahib.

A Chandoa is hung above like a canopy on a king. The Chandoa is also
beautifully decorated. There is aa gold ornament hung from the center and

even on front panel of Chandoa. Sometimes there are lines of Gurbani

embroidered on the front side of the Chandoa. The sevadaars change the

Rumaala and Chandoa once in one or two weeks. Usually they match and the

Gurdwara looks beautiful inside.
