Quinta do Lago Sports and Recreation

Quinta do Lago is famous for its 5 championship golf courses but there are lots more
beside. The large lake offers windsurfing, sailing and fishing and at the beach there is
water-skiing, jet ski and paragliding. There are two nature trails along the Ria Formosa
nature reserve with 2 hides for birdwatchers. The Campus multi sports complex offers a
whole range of sporting activities.

The Golf Courses

A total of 99 holes within five magnificent courses rated among the top 25 in Europe. All
have first class driving ranges, putting greens, pro shops, and clubhouses with bar and
restaurant.

Quinta do Lago South – Rebuilt in 2020, and regarded as one
of the greatest golf courses in the world, Quinta do Lago South is
located beside the protected area of the Ria Formosa Natural
Reserve. The course is based on sandy soil covered with pines,
heather, brooms and wild flowers. It has hosted seven
Portuguese Opens and continues to be the venue for various

Quinta do Lago North – this course was completely rebuilt in 2014 redesigned by
renowned American architect Beau Welling in close collaboration with European Ryder
Cup captain Paul McGinley. The new layout has been built to the highest specifications
with the emphasis firmly on precision and strategy. Tel: 289 390 705

Pinheiros Altos - This course now has three contrasting nines -
the Pines, the Corks and the Olives. Pinheiros Altos has built its
reputation on its fast and tricky greens. There is also the Golf
Academy which has three bays fitted with a fully automatic
swing capture and replay system, offering tuition and advice.

San Lorenzo - Rated N° 5 in Europe, and set in the Rio
Formosa nature reserve, this course is the most scenic of all the
resorts courses and always maintained at an excellent standard.
It is operated by the owners of the Dona Filipa Hotel so starting
times can only be booked a maximum of 24 hrs in advance. Tel:

Laranjal -The newest course owned by Quinta do Lago and opened in 2009. Set in a
former orange grove about 4 kms east of Quinta do Lago, it is in superb condition and
can be less busy than the other courses. Tel: 289 390 705

Paul McGinley Golf Academy
Quinta do Lago has an exclusive training academy in partnership with world-renowned
European tour professional and 2014 European Ryder Cup captain, Paul McGinley. This is
situated at the driving range at roundabout 4 where there is also a TaylorMade club

Mini Golf
There is a mini golf course opposite the driving range designed for fun for the whole
family and featuring miniature replicas of some of the world’s most famous holes
