ROTARY COCHIN GLOBAL
It is said a Good Start is always important, Team Cochin Global ably led by President Asha Sunil and Secretary
MAR Kala Ravi Sankar indeed did that. Shanthi and Myself symbolically launched the Mother’s Milk Bank at the
11 Ernakulam General Hospital by releasing the Awareness Video on the same, which would be played at
the labour ward and the pediatric ward to get maximum coverage. We then inaugurated the newly built
Palliative Care Centre at Jeramiah’s Home for the Destitute Women at Ochanthuruthu, Vypin. During the
interactive Club Assembly Secretary Kala highlighted the boost their Public Image received through effective
coverage three of their major projects received in the media. The highlight of the grand evening function
was handing over a amount of Rs 13.6 lakhs of the proposed 22 Lakhs to the Postmaster General for their
Flagship Project ‘SUKANYA’. Through this commendable Girl Child Empowerment project, deposits are made
in the Post Office for the girl children of farmers and fishermen below 4 years for their education. Their
colorful Bulletin ‘Together’ was also released – good work by Editor Deepa Geroge. Special recognition
for their outstanding work were presented to Nitha Thambi and Mary Paul. Must mention of their Project
‘Thanal’ through which they plan to build two houses at Chellanam for the affected families , one is joint
with Rotary Cochin Beachside. Had the opportunity to hand over their contribution to their partners in this
project – Aster Medicity two days earlier. The crowning glory of the evening was the announcement that the
Club had regained its - 100% PHF Club status. Dr. Kuriyipe, dynamic Noby and Benny are some of the strong
pillars of the Club.
DD Varghese K Joy, AG Premlal and GGR Tony Manuel are doing a fabulous job in supporting and motivating the Club.
ROTARY GREATER COCHIN
A beautiful start to the day by a visit to Cottolengo Institute ,Palluruthy where We inaugurated their ‘GROW
MAR TREES PROJECT’ by planting 100 trees. They have been closely associated with them having organized various
12 projects like Agricultural Therapy, and monthly medicine supply for the inmates consisting of 44 mentally
challenged senior citizens. We also visited Palluruthy Relief Settlement which takes care of 150 destitutes and
handed over medicines which they give every month. The Club Assembly at IMA House was very interactive.
The evening function was well attended and they presented the Vocational Excellence Award to Adv. Bitty
Joseph, Chairperson CWC, Ernakulam and Project Coordinator, PCSJ. The fourth edition of their Quarterly
Bulletin ‘GREATER TIMES’ was released by First Lady Shanthi. Must appreciate the efforts of President Biley
Menon, Secretary Shiva Shankar and Team Greater Cochin for their outstanding programs.
DD Varghese K Joy, AG Narayanan Menon and GGR Jijo Palathinkal are actively involved with Club in all their activities.
