Was looking forward to visit this club which with Rtn Karpagam Muthuraman as President and
MAR Palaniappan as Secretary had already completed a century of projects costing over 2 crores. We
19 started by visiting St. Joseph Old Age Home at Podanur, which has been totally transformed to a fresh
and impressive condition thanks to Rtn Muthuraman and Team Gaalaxy for their continued support
over the last few years. Not only renovation of the building but also regular supply of clothes and
monthly groceries are part of their support. The Club Assembly with the members was very interactive
and purposeful. It is really a tough task to mention all their projects as they are all fabulous but to
highlight some of the most outstanding: ‘MATHURAM PROJECT’ - a 76500$ Global Grant Project
through which they will provide 5 Insulin Pumps and total medical support to 70 Type I Diabetic
Children for 2 years. ‘UYRIOSAI ‘ Project Sound Of Life a joint project with Sarvam ENT Hospital
through which 40 free ear surgeries have been completed and 2 earring aids also have been given.

Inter Dist Projects with Rotary Bangalore Spandana, RI Dist 3190 for Eye care and with Kanal Orange
Vision Centre, Chennai and Rotary Ananthangi RI Dist 3232 are some of the many Inter District projects
done by them. ’Project Hope’ a joint project with the famous ladies inner wear manufacturers Naidu
Hall, they distributed 5 lakhs worth of Mastectomy Bra packs to breast cancer affected ladies with
Mrs. Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi and First Lady Shanthi Rajasekhar inaugurating the event. Complete
renovation of a Mental Asylum at Mettupalayam at a cost of over 7 lakhs. Free Neet Coaching classes
for more than 100 underprivileged children at a cost of about 2.5 Lakhs. Their tailoring classes at
their Vocational Training Centre benefits about 70 ladies every year and have already trained more
than 700 ladies in the last few years and they also give free sewing machines to the deserving. They
have changed Nirmala College for Ladies into a 100% plastic free campus. 150 cargo vehicles plying
around the city are displaying the Rotary 4 Way Test both in English and Tamil- It is one the Best
Promotion of the Rotary 4 Way Test project.

The grand evening meet was packed with many District Officers and Senior Leaders of the District.
The first edition of their quarterly Bulletin was received by PDG Pathy and the second edition by DGN
Sunderavadivel. Two more new members were inducted in addition to the 11 members already added
this year and 7 more to come. Fantastic growth in Membership! They have already contributed
about 45,000$ to the Rotary Foundation with more to follow . With all their members contributing
they have also achieved the unique distinction of EREY ! There are no words to appreciate the efforts
of President Karpagam, Secretary Palaniappan and senior leaders of the Club like Muthuraman,
DGS Murgan , AG Ramanathan and Team Gaalaxy for the exemplary work they are doing . When
you have a Rotarian like Murgan in your team, you are blessed , as he is a walking Encyclopedia of
Rotary with his vast experience and knowledge of Rotary. We are really lucky to have him as General
Secretary of the District !!!
DD Kumaresan, AG Baskaran and GGR Kumar are so involved with the activities of the Club that they
become a part of the Gaalaxy Family.
