About Society
• The education of youth is one of society’s greatest
responsibilities; therefore, it must be one of its highest
priorities.
• The purpose of education is to assist young learners in
fulfilling their greatest potential as empowered and
informed individuals, ethically based problem solvers; and
constructive citizens who are engaged in their local,
national, and world communities.
About Parents
• Parents generally want their child to be a good person
and have a good life.
• Parents are legally, socially, and morally obligated to
provide educational opportunities for their child.
• Parents generally want their child to have a “good”
education but have varying values that dictate what is
most important with their child’s school experience. The
values that provide the primary motivations for parents
are academic quality, safety, morality, socialization, and
preparation for adult life.
• Parents generally need assistance with the education of
their child; therefore, they rely heavily on professional
educators and educational institutions.
About Children
• All young learners have the potential to learn.
• Young learners are always learning in all areas of their life.
• Learning varies between individual learners on pace, style,
and methods.
• Young learners are social beings who desire interaction
and collaboration with peers and other persons of similar
age.
• All young learners have an innate need to feel
accomplished.
