"Honor your father and mother"—which is the first command-
ment with a promise—"that it may go well with you and that
you may enjoy long life on the earth." (Ephesians, 6:2-3)

that you may live in a right way in undivided devotion to the
Lord. (1 Corinthians, 7:35)

Abstaining from Hypocrisy and
Showing-off

Be careful not to do your 'acts of righteousness' before men,
to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from
your Lord... (Matthew, 6:1)

... So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with
trumpets, as the hypocrites do... to be honored by men. I tell
you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But
when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know
what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in
secret. Then... [God] Who sees what is done in secret, will re-
