The Miracles of our Prophet (saas)
His as cen sion in to heav ens (Mi`raj)
The Prophet Muhammad's (saas) as cen sion is one of the
great est mir a cles. Surat al-Isra' and Surat al-Najm re late his mi -
rac u lous night jour ney to the Masjid al-Aqsa and his as cen sion
to the "lo te tree of the ut most bound a ry" (sid rat al-mun ta ha).
In Arabic, is ra' means "night jour ney" or "night walk." In
the first verse of Surat al-Isra', Almighty Allah tells us of our
dear Prophet's mi rac u lous jour ney:
Glory be to Him Who took His ser vant on a jour ney by
night from the Masjid al-Haram to the Masjid al-Aqsa,
whose sur round ings We have bless ed, in or der to show him
some of Our Signs. He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing.
(Surat al-Isra': 1)
