The peo ple of the land prac tice ex tor tion and com mit rob bery;
they op press the poor and needy and mis treat the al ien, de ny -
ing them jus tice. (Ezekiel, 22:29)
He de fends the cause of the fa ther less and the wid ow, and
loves the al ien, giv ing him food and cloth ing. And you are
to love those who are al iens. (Deuteronomy, 10:18-19)
Do not rule over them with rigor, but fear your God. (Leviti-
cus, 25:43)
Ruling with Justice and Defending the Truth
This is what the Lord Almighty says: "Administer true jus -
tice; show mer cy and com pas sion to one an oth er." (Zechariah,
7:9)
He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the
Lord re quire of you? To act just ly and to love mer cy and to
walk hum bly with your God. (Micah, 6:8)
For I, the Lord, love jus tice; I hate rob bery and in iq ui ty. In
My faith ful ness I will re ward them and make an ev er last ing
cov e nant with them. (Isaiah, 61:8)
The right eous care about jus tice for the poor, but the wick ed
have no such con cern. (Proverbs, 29:7)
If a king judg es the poor with fair ness, his throne will al -
ways be se cure. (Proverbs, 29:14)
For I have cho sen him, so that he will di rect his chil dren and
his house hold aft er him to keep the way of the Lord by do ing
what is right and just, so that the Lord will bring about for
