WISDOM AND SOUND ADVICE FROM THE TORAH
The troub le he caus es re coils on him self; his vi o lence comes
down on his own head. (Psalms, 7:16)
The Lord ex am ines the right eous, but the wick ed and those
who love vi o lence His soul hates. (Psalms, 11:5)
Do not trust in ex tor tion or take pride in sto len goods; though
your rich es in crease, do not set your heart on them. (Psalms,
62:10)
From the fruit of his lips a man en joys good things, but the un -
faith ful have a crav ing for vi o lence. (Proverbs, 13:2)
A vi o lent man en tices his neigh bor and leads him down a path
that is not good. (Proverbs, 16:29)
The vi o lence of the wick ed will drag them away, for they
refuse to do what is right. (Proverbs, 21:7)
... Their deeds are evil deeds, and acts of vi o lence are in their
hands. Their feet rush in to sin; they are swift to shed in no cent
blood. Their thoughts are evil thoughts; ru in and de struc tion
mark their ways. The way of peace they do not know; there is
no jus tice in their paths. They have turned them in to crook ed
roads; no one who walks in them will know peace. (Isaiah,
59:6-8)
He who walks right eous ly and speaks what is right, who re -
jects gain from ex tor tion and keeps his hand from ac cept ing
bribes, who stops his ears against plots of mur der and shuts
his eyes against con tem plat ing evil- this is the man who will
dwell on the heights... His bread will be sup plied, and wa ter
will not fail him. (Isaiah, 33:15-16)
