WISDOM AND SOUND ADVICE FROM THE TORAH





                     A wick ed man lis tens to evil lips; a li ar pays at ten tion to a ma -
                     li cious tongue. (Proverbs, 17:4)


                     ... And he [Joseph] re as sured them and spoke kind ly to them.
                     (Genesis, 50:21)

                     My heart is stirred by a no ble theme... My tongue is the pen
                     of a skill ful writer. (Psalms, 45:1)



                       Preaching Goodness and Forbidding Evil


                     Do not hate your broth er in your heart. Rebuke your neigh -
                     bor frank ly so you will not share in his guilt. (Leviticus,
                     19:17)

                     She speaks with wis dom, and faith ful in struc tion is on her
                     tongue. (Proverbs, 31:26)

                     A right eous man is cau tious in friend ship, but the way of the
                     wick ed leads them astray. (Proverbs, 12:26)


                     Do not be like your fore fa thers, to whom the ear li er Prophets
                     pro claimed: This is what the Lord Almighty says: "Turn from
                     your evil ways and your evil prac ti ces." But they would not lis -
                     ten or pay at ten tion to Me, de clares the Lord. (Zechariah, 1:4)

                     And [Lot] said, "No, my friends. Don't do this wick ed thing."
                     (Genesis, 19:7)

                     Listen now to me and I will give you some ad vice, and may
                     God be with you... (Exodus, 18:19)

                     ... "No, my friends, don't be so vile... don't do this dis grace ful
                     thing... But to this man, don't do such a dis grace ful thing."
