Speaking Wisely and Concisely
The words of a man's mouth are deep wa ters, but the foun -
tain of wis dom is a bub bling brook. (Proverbs, 18:4)
The wise in heart are called dis cern ing, and pleas ant words
pro mote in struc tion... A wise man's heart guides his mouth,
and his lips pro mote in struc tion. (Proverbs, 16:21, 23)
King Solomon was great er in rich es and wis dom than all the
oth er kings of the earth. The whole world sought au di ence
with Solomon to hear the wis dom God had put in his heart.
(1 Kings, 10:23-24)
A fool shows his an noy ance at once... Reckless words pierce
like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings heal ing.
(Proverbs, 12:16, 18)
A pru dent man keeps his knowl edge to him self, but the
heart of fools blurts out fol ly. (Proverbs, 12:23)
A fool's talk brings a rod to his back, but the lips of the wise
pro tect them. (Proverbs, 14:3)
The tongue of the wise com mends knowl edge, but the
mouth of the fool gush es fol ly. (Proverbs, 15:2)
The lips of the wise spread knowl edge; not so the hearts of
fools. (Proverbs, 15:7)
A man finds joy in giv ing an apt re ply and how good is a
time ly word! (Proverbs, 15:23)
Wisdom is found on the lips of the dis cern ing, but a rod is for
the back of him who lacks judg ment. Wise men store up knowl -
edge, but the mouth of a fool in vites ru in. (Proverbs, 10:13-14)
