The Creation of Night and Day

God called the light "day," and the dark ness He called "night."
And there was even ing, and there was morn ing... (Genesis, 1:5)

As long as the earth en dures, seed time and har vest, cold
and heat, sum mer and win ter, day and night will nev er
cease. (Genesis, 8:22)

The Creation of Celestial Bodies

And God said, "Let there be lights in the ex panse of the sky
to se parate the day from the night, and let them serve as
signs to mark seasons and days and years, and let them be
lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth."
And it was so. God made two great lights—the greater light
to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night.
He al so made the stars. God set them in the ex panse of the
sky to give light on the earth. (Genesis, 1:14-17)

O Lord, our Lord, how ma jes tic is Your name in all the earth!
You have set Your glo ry above the heav ens... When I con -
sid er Your heav ens... the Moon and the stars, which You
