            Lord, how many are my foes? How many rise up against me!
            Many are say ing of me, 'There is no sal va tion for him in God. And
            You, O God, are a shield for me, my hon or, and lift er up of my
            head. I cried to the Lord with my voice, and He heard me... I took
            my rest in sleep, and then again I was awake; for the Lord was my
            sup port. I will not fear the tens of thou sands drawn up against me
            on ev ery side... Save me, my God!... Salvation comes from the

            Lord; Your bless ing is on Your peo ple . (Psalms, 3:1-8)

            Hear me when I call, O my right eous ness God: Give me re lief
            from my dis tress. Have mer cy on me, and hear my prayer. You
            sons of men, how long... will you love van i ty, and seek aft er false -
            hood?... Stand in awe, and don't sin. Search your own heart on
            your bed... Put your trust in God. Let the light of Your face   2

            shine on us. You have put glad ness in my heart... I will take my
            rest on my bed in peace, be cause You on ly, Lord, keep me safe.
            (Psalms, 4:1-8)

            Hear my words, O Lord, con sid er my sigh ing. My voice will

            come to You in the morn ing, O Lord; in the morn ing will I send
            my prayer to You, and wait in ex pec ta tion... Neither shall the
            wick ed dwell near You. The ar ro gant can not stand in Your pres -
            ence... blood thirsty and de ceit ful men the Lord dislikes and He is
            not pleased with them. But as for me, I will come in to Your
            house [a place where God is worshipped], in
            rev er ence will I bow down to ward Your in-
            most room... Lead me, O Lord, in Your
            right eous ness... make straight Your way
