In the year 2007, a proposal for the conduct of entrance examination to all incoming students and
transferees regardless of course was approved and implemented.
In 2007 to 2009, other services which include Career Development and Referral Services were
added to the six aforementioned Guidance Services. In June 2010 to present, the title “Guidance
Office” was change into “Guidance and Counseling Section” since it is a unit/section of the
Department of Student Services and Development. Other guidance services were offered to include
the Guidance Extension Services and the Faculty Evaluation by Students. In June 2011, the Job
Assistance Services Program was launched as another activity under the Career and Placement
Service. Likewise, linkages with different agencies, private and public sectors have been established
to support the career and placement services of the office. Further, the Datngon Youth Center,
Hogpan Youth Center and all funded by the Provincial Office, were recognized as special programs
of the Guidance and Counseling Section aside from the Student-Peer Facilitators Program. They
currently serve as hubs of socialization among students and a recreational center as well. The Peer
Facilitators are tasked to render their duties at the Youth Centers during their vacant periods to
cater to the needs of their fellow students.
For the continuous operations of the center, giving support to the administration, students and the
community, current Guidance Counselors in all IFSU campuses should continue to work in
collaboration with each other to further enhance the existing guidance program of the University.
