Expert navigator check: Shortly after the previous instructions you will cross a bridge over the
        River Ardur.

0.0 50.8443, -0.2875 Whichever way you started out, you are now on the A27. Follow it, going
through three roundabouts, until you reach the outskirts of Arundel. You’ll see a b+w sign for a T
intersection s/p “Arundel / Warning camp / Burpham”. Bear r. on to Lyminster Rd, the A27.

12.3 50.8504, -0.5495 At the next roundabout take the 2nd exit s/p “Arundel Town Centre” on to
        The Causeway, then Queen St.

You will cross the River Arun and just over the bridge turn l. at a small roundabout on to High St.
For a short distance the river should be on your immediate l.

Swing r. to remain on High St. As you make that turn the Swan Hotel will be on your l.Towards the
top of High St the stone walls of Arundel Castle will be on your r. Unfortunately High St becomes
a one way street near the castle. Turn l. into Maltravers St and take the next r. into New Cut. The
gates of the castle are at the top of New Cut. (GPS 50.8555,-0.5557) There is a small carpark on
        the r. near the gates.

        Arundel to Portsmouth

When you leave Arundel Castle turn l. into Maltravers St (or find your way there from wherever
you have parked). As you make the turn into Maltravers St the China Palace Restaurant will be on
        your l.

50.8527, -0.5623 Continue down Maltravers St to the large roundabout at the end of the
street. Take the 3rd exit from the r/bout s/p “Chichester / Portsmouth A27”.

9.1 mi 50.8417, -0.7554 As you approach Chichester on the A27 you will see a lake on the right
hand side of the road. You will also see a large green sign on the l. for the Portfield
Roundabout. Take the 2nd exit s/p “Chichester A285”.

At this point you can, if you wish, takre a side trip to the Weald and Downland Museum. See
        navigation instructions below.

Otherwise, follow the A285 into the centre of the town.

If you are giving Chichester a miss (why??) go to the entry below.

Side Trip to the Weald and Downland Museum

         To find it:

9.1 mi 50.8417, -0.7554 As you approach Chichester on the A27 you will see a lake on the right
hand side of the road. You will also see a large green sign on the l. for the Portfield
Roundabout. Take the 3rd exit s/p “Westhampnet”

At the next r/bout take the 3rd exit s/p “Westhampnet”. This will take you on to Stane St. This is
the course of one of the original Roman roads, though sad to say right here it is somewhat much
         modified.

Just before you enter the village of Westhampnet, turn l on to Claypit Lane.
