KPI 4 | ADDRESSING HUMAN WILDLIFE
CONFLICT
When the Karingani border fence was completed in November 2019, a major milestone has been reached
which undoubtedly contributed immensely to combating human wildlife conflict. Since completion, there
have been no incidents recorded from wildlife breaking out of Karingani.
During the reporting period, community liaison officers recorded the following human wildlife incidents in the
following communities from free roaming wildlife living outside of Karingani’s boundaries:
CUBO
3 Hyena - cattle related HWC incidents
1 Crocodile - human related HWC incident
KHANYANI
1 Hyena - cattle related HWC incident
MAPULANGUENE
3 Elephant destroying crops related HWC incident
