ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
KPI 5 | FUNDRAISE INITIATIVES
RESULTS
Karingani’s ongoing engagement to implement economic development strategies are designed to
improve economic conditions in our immediate neighbouring communities. We encourage the use of local
resources to promote economic growth in our communities. We also encourage local employment and
look forward to the future job creation opportunities that will be unlocked through tourism development
in Karingani. We are focusing on the existing need for skills and development training of the members of
our immediate neighbouring communities to ensure that they qualify to apply for the vacancies as soon as
they become available.
During this reporting period 19 ladies from local communities were hired on a temporary basis at Sungulo
lodge in order to test and develop their skills for the potential employment at Xinghana Lodge. 6 male staff
were interviewed and tested for maintenance/driver and guard positions at Xinghana lodge.
Kurhula Community Farm hires on a seasonal basis, 37 members from the Cubo community, 26 of which
were woman, to assist with harvesting.
KPI 1 | SUPPORT LOCAL ENTREPRENEURS
In line with our intent to prioritise support of local entrepreneurs, we continue to source as much of our local produce
and supplies from the local region. Despite a slight reduction in the availability and compression of goods and
internal operations as a result of COVID-19, this report period still saw significant contribution to local suppliers and
small business.
