When you recognize an employee through the peer recognition program they will receive
special recognition from NWF.
Employees dedicated service to the National Wildlife Federation are recognized at various
milestones. We celebrate your contributions and inspire those to come! Service awards are
provided to our staff at five year intervals. The Human Resources team will reach out to those
employees who are due to receive an award.
Whistleblower Policy
A whistleblower is an employee who reports an activity that he/she considers to be illegal or
dishonest during the course of NWF business. The whistleblower is not responsible for
investigating the activity or for determining the fault or corrective measures. This
responsibility rests with the VP/Human Resources and General Counsel who is responsible for
investigating and coordinating follow-through as appropriate.
Examples of illegal or dishonest activities include violations of federal, state or local laws and
organizational policies; fraudulent financial reporting or abuse of company funds. Frivolous
comments related to an individual's colleagues or work environment are not appropriate and
would be subject to disciplinary action if the identity of the individual is determined.
If an employee has knowledge of or a concern of actual or suspected activities that may
involve criminal conduct or violations of NWF's conduct, an employee may bring this to the
attention of his or her manager, the VP/Human Resources the Office of the General Counsel
or file a report through the Ethicspoint site. Ethicspoint is an outside firm which collects the
information and distributes it to the appropriate senior staff at NWF for follow-through. An
employee who intentionally files a false report of wrongdoing will be subject to discipline up
to and including termination if the identity of the individual is determined.
Whistleblower protections are provided in two important areas - confidentiality and against
retaliation. As much as possible, the confidentiality of the whistleblower will be maintained.
NWF will not retaliate against a whistleblower. Any employee who believes he/she is being
retaliated against must contact the VP/Human Resources and or the Office of the General
Counsel immediately. The right of a whistleblower for protection against retaliation does not
include immunity for any personal wrongdoing that is alleged and investigated or the filing of
a false or frivolous report.
