Canadian Cookies ~ Maureen Marriott


        Ingredients:
        4 oz plain flour
        3 oz porridge oats
        1 oz desiccated coconut
        4 oz margarine
        4 oz granulated sugar.
        1 rounded tablespoon golden syrup,
        ½ teaspoon bicarbonate of soda dissolved in
        1 tablespoon of hot water.


        Method:
        à     mix flour, oats and coconut
        à     melt margarine, sugar and syrup in a saucepan
        à     remove from heat                                               Starters | Soups | Main Meals | Desserts | Cakes | Biscuits, etc
        à     stir in flour mixture.
        à     dissolve bicarbonate of soda in hot water.  Stir into mixture
        à     drop teaspoonful  of mixture on to well- greased baking
              sheets, well apart to allow for spreading
        à     cook in a moderate oven (fan 160 c) for 12 to 15 minutes   un-
              til golden brown
        à     leave on baking sheet for 1 minute and then remove from
              sheets and cool on wire tray
        à     they keep well and make about 15 to 20 or so biscuits
