306 The Complete DESIGN BUILDER
Computer Assisted Drafting:
Depending on your in-house capability the use of a Computer Associated Drafting
Program should be considered. Many professional design offices are producing their work
exclusively with Computer Assisted Drafting. There are a number of inexpensive CAD systems
that will allow you to produce preliminary line diagrams that can be used for estimating and
proposal presentations purposes and then given to your design professionals in disk form for
preparation of the complete design documents. Before purchasing a particular CAD program,
check with a number of design professionals to ensure you purchase compatible CAD Software.
The professionalism of your proposal presentation using Computer Assisted Drafting will
be evident with the submission of clear, concise, accurate plans and details for your client to
review. There will be time and cost savings for fast track projects if your design professionals can
start final design from your preliminary CAD Design work.
Prime Contracts:
The many variables to consider in choosing a Prime Contract format for your projects will
include the legal jurisdiction, dollar volume of project and the specific project details and scope of
work. Due to these and other variables we offer the following general types of Prime Contracts
to consider for your projects. These forms of contract have associated general conditions that are
usually an integral part of any agreement.
