Policies and Procedures
3.9 Infection Control Procedures
CCS staff will observe the following procedures in the provision of services to prevent exposure to infectious disease.
These procedures are universal precautions to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
All blood and body fluids visible with blood are to be treated as potentially infectious. Wash hands and other skin
surfaces immediately and thoroughly if soiled with blood or body fluids, and change gloves after contact with each
client. Wash hands before and after giving care to clients. Please refer to Appendix C
4. Staff Qualifications and Positions
4.1 Minimum Staff Qualifications
CCS will meet the minimum staff qualifications and training and qualifications and training shall be documented
either in the employment application, resume, reference checks, or other personnel documents. The
qualifications are in accordance with Georgia’s Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities
(DBHDD) Support Coordination Waiver Manual and Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH), all case
managers must meet the following qualifications:
Be at least 21 years of age;
Have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a human service field, such as social work, psychology, special
education, nursing, or closely related field.
Have at least one year of experience in serving persons with disabilities or the ageing in a case management
or coordination role. If the case manager is working with the Independent Care Waiver Program, the case
manager will need two years of experience in healthcare service delivery or human services case
management pertinent to the disabilities and conditions of the populations served by the ICWP; severely
disabled adults and adults with traumatic brain injuries.
4.2 Position: Case Manager
Summary: This individual will make a difference in the lives of many by assisting people with disabilities and the
ageing to access and coordinate needed supports and services in community settings. Knowledge of social,
economic, health or rehabilitative services objectives is important, as is knowledge of methods of compiling,
organizing, and analyzing data. The case manager must evaluate and monitor service delivery and must possess the
ability to provide technical assistance regarding program and client issues. An effective communicator, this person
will be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others and to understand and apply
applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
4.3 Position: Clinical Supervisor
Summary: The Clinical Supervisor will supervise intensive/enhanced case manager and provide ongoing
consultation to consist of joint visits, determining risk and unmet needs, and collaboration in identifying and
securing medical/health resources. The clinical supervisor will act as a clinical consultant for each of the ICM/ ECM
and each of the individuals served within the Intensive/Enhanced team’s caseload. In addition, they will maintain
availability between supervisory sessions to help ICM/ ECM solve problems around key participant issues, resolve
service problems, and visit participants as part of their interdisciplinary team for clinical consultation and planning.
