Chapter 2: What is the Express Entry Pool ?
2. Spouse or common-law partner factors: This section includes points for a
spouse or common-law partner’s level of education , of ficial language prof iciency,
and Canadian work experience.
3. Skills transferability factors: This section provides points by considering a
combination of factors mentioned abov e (i.e. stron g languages prof iciency and a
post-secondary degree)
4. Additional points (maximum 600 points): This section includes points for
additional factors, such as having a brot her or sister living in Canada (citizen or
permanent resident), French language skills, pos t- econdary education in Canada,
arranged employment, and a PN nom ination .

What is an Invitation to Apply (ITA)?
As Express Entry draws/invitation rou nds oc cur, the highest ranked candidates who meet
the cut-off score (determined each draw) are issued an ITA.
Being accepted into the Express Entry pool DOES NOT guarantee that you will be
invited to apply. Only the highest ranked candidates are invited to apply for
Canadian permanent residence throu gh period ic draws from the Express Entry pool .
If you are invited to apply, you will receive a message in you r accou nt telling you :
