Chapter 2: What is the Express Entry Pool ?
You will have only 60 days to accept or decline an ITA. If you miss the 60- ay deadline,
your ITA will no longer be valid and you will have to re- nter the Express Entry pool .
Having only 60 days to apply isn’t a lot of time. For that reason , it is very important
that you gather the necessary documents for you r application ahead of receiving an
ITA. You want to be prepared so you can act quickly when you receive an ITA. Som e
documents, such as police clearance certificates can take mon ths for you to ob tain,
so begin collecting what you will need as soon as pos sible.
Accepting, Declining, or having an Expired ITA
There are three possible scenarios when a candidate receives an ITA:
1. Accepting the ITA: You can submit your complete application for Canadian
permanent residence within 60 calendar days of the ITA being issued.
2. Declining the ITA: If you decline the ITA, your profile will be placed back in the
Express Entry pool and will be eligible for selection in subsequent draws.
3. If you do not respond: If you do not respond by “Accepting” or “Declining” the
ITA, then your ITA will expire and you will need to create a new prof ile if you want
to be included in future draws.
(When you reach this point) you will have to prov e that the information that you will
submit in your application accurately reflects the information that was prov ided in you r
Express Entry profile.
If you left any details out, or it is fou nd that you entered incorrect infor mation on you r
profile, you may:
1. Have your application denied
2. Be found inadmissible to Canada
3. Be barred from entering Canada for 5 years
Receiving an ITA DOES NOT automatically mean that you have been accepted as a
permanent resident. You still have to submit an application and prov e that the
information entered in your profile is accurate.
